Monthly Pocket has no central database containing your budget records. Your working copy is stored in your browser, and cloud data is written to a private Google Sheet in your own Google Drive.
1. Overview
Monthly Pocket is a browser-based budgeting tool. This policy explains how Monthly Pocket handles information when you visit the site, sign in with Google, enter budget records, use Google Sheets sync, or export your information.
“Budget records” includes balances, expenses, categories, reimbursements, leave records, travel plans, preferences, and other content you choose to enter.
2. Information Monthly Pocket handles
Google account information
When you sign in, Monthly Pocket receives the stable Google account identifier and verified email address needed to identify your workspace and lifetime access. Monthly Pocket requests the openid, email, and Google Drive drive.file permissions.
Budget and workspace records
Monthly Pocket processes the records you enter so it can calculate balances, show reports, create exports, and synchronize your workspace.
Payment and entitlement information
Razorpay processes checkout and payment credentials. Monthly Pocket receives and verifies the Razorpay order ID, payment ID, signature, captured amount, currency, status, and refund amount. It stores a signed entitlement record linked to your Google account in the private Monthly Pocket spreadsheet. Monthly Pocket does not receive or store your full card, bank, or UPI credentials.
Browser and session information
Monthly Pocket uses browser local storage for the working copy, sync status, and account-specific preferences. An encrypted, HTTP-only cookie keeps the Google connection available. The Google refresh token is encrypted before it is placed in that cookie and is not exposed to page scripts.
Technical information
The hosting provider, Google, and Razorpay may process ordinary technical data such as IP address, request time, browser details, and service logs under their own terms and policies. Monthly Pocket does not use this information to build advertising profiles.
3. How information is used
- To sign you in and keep account workspaces separate.
- To calculate and display budgets, balances, categories, reimbursements, leaves, and plans.
- To create or locate the private Monthly Pocket spreadsheet associated with your account.
- To synchronize changes, detect sync conflicts, and restore your workspace on another device.
- To provide CSV and JSON export and restore features.
- To protect the service, investigate failures, and meet legal obligations.
Monthly Pocket does not sell budget records or use them for targeted advertising.
Monthly Pocket’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
4. Where data is stored
Your working records are stored in your browser profile. When sync is available, a copy is stored in the “PocketData” tab of a private Google Sheet owned by your Google account. Monthly Pocket does not maintain a separate application database of your budget records.
Browser storage is not encrypted by Monthly Pocket. Anyone with access to your unlocked browser profile or developer tools may be able to inspect local copies. Use a separate device or browser profile when sharing a computer.
The Google session cookie is marked Secure, HTTP-only, and SameSite. After a payment is verified, a second encrypted, HTTP-only cookie remembers for up to 6 hours that this Google account has lifetime access, so saving does not recheck Razorpay every time. It contains no payment details, card or UPI information. A third cookie, readable by Monthly Pocket’s pages, only records that this browser is signed in so the homepage can open your dashboard directly; it contains no token, email address or account ID and is removed when you log out. No security measure is perfect, and Monthly Pocket cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Your choices and controls
- Access: open your Monthly Pocket spreadsheet directly from the app.
- Export: download monthly CSV files or a full JSON backup.
- Correct: edit records in Monthly Pocket.
- Delete local copies: clear the site’s browser storage.
- Delete cloud copies: delete the Monthly Pocket spreadsheet from Google Drive.
- Disconnect: log out of Monthly Pocket and revoke Monthly Pocket’s access in your Google Account permissions.
Deleting the Sheet or revoking access may not remove a browser-local copy. Clear both if you want to remove both copies.
7. Monthly Pocket Chat
When you use Monthly Pocket Chat, the question and limited recent chat context may be sent through Monthly Pocket’s hosting function to Google’s Gemini API to generate a product-support answer. Monthly Pocket does not add those messages to its budget database or Google Sheet. Google may process and retain free-tier Gemini API content under its own terms and may use it to improve its products.
Do not enter financial records, passwords, payment credentials, API keys, or other sensitive information in the chat. The built-in guide may answer common questions without sending them to Gemini when Gemini is unavailable or not configured.
8. Children
Monthly Pocket is not directed to children under the age required to consent to online services in their country. Do not use Monthly Pocket if you cannot lawfully authorize the Google account connection.
9. Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated as Monthly Pocket changes. The effective date at the top will be revised when material updates are made. Continued use after an update means the revised policy applies to future use.
